Predator Armor Level III Lightweight Body Armor is manufactured in the U.S. The plate is made of polyethylene. At only 3.3 pounds, this Level III armor provides you with rife-rated protection at half the weight of steel and ceramic plates. The plates are also designed to be buoyant and float in water. The lightweight, multicurve design provides maximum comfort and mobility for any conditions. Predator Armor's Level III Poly Plate is notably thinner than the competition, at only 1" thick. 
Polyethylene plates do not have issues with spalling or fragmentation like other body armor variants, as the materials naturally contain any ricochet projectiles caused by a bullet striking the plate. Poly plates are made by pressing multiple layers of ultra-high-molecular-weight-polyethylene (UHMWPE) material under extreme pressure and heat, which bonds the multiple layers of polyethylene materials together and hardens to provide the ultimate protection for the weight. A bullet traveling at high velocity will be captured in the hardened material, partially melting the polyethylene and allowing it to travel slightly into the plate itself. It will then be stopped by the remaining layers and become captured in the UHMWPE material.
Predator Armor's Lightweight Level III Body Armor also includes a polyurea coating that provides protection from the elements. It protects the armor from water, UV light, as well as wear-and-tear from extended use. As with all Predator Armor products, this UHMWPE plate is created with the end user in mind and made 100% in the USA.
